In and out of parallel universes | Juwon Ogungbe

Not everyone knows this, but I have come to terms with the fact that many of us live in parallel universes.

Traditions and customs have a lot to do with this. People travel thousands of miles across oceans and boundaries, retaining the narratives they subscribed to from where they started.

In this age of video conferencing, the lines are blurring between some of those universes. It will probably take a while to arrive at a new settled understanding of terms of reference.

Quite a few people I know are reducing their interaction on social media platforms, possibly for the reason mentioned above.

Listening and learning about etiquette in this new age is a sensible way forward.
